Margate is a small seaside resort town in KwaZulu- Natal South Coast, about 20 kilometers south of Port Shepstone. Margate town is made up of many shops, including beach, arts & crafts shops, restaurants, pubs and night clubs. Margate is best known for its’ beautiful coastline and blue flag beach with a swimming pool right on the beach. It’s also the only town along the South Coast to boast its’ own freshwater Olympic sized pool.

Margate is well known for its fishing and the fishing pier at Lawrence Rocks is the most popular site for this activity. It was rebuilt in 2012 after it was destroyed by heavy storm waves and has safety railings as well as a fish cleaning station.
